Equality - looking at politics' backrooms

IfG's first Women Leaders event heard from three high profile MPs from each of the main parties.

Women in government and politics, the first in a series of Women Leaders events at the Institute for Government, heard from high profile MPs Stella Creasy, Elizabeth Truss and Jo Swinson. Elizabeth Truss, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Education and Childcare, told audience members that she preferred primaries compared to all women shortlists. Previous IfG research has also looked at this issue.
