Outgoing Whitehall head pushes corporate model for civil service

A fundamental restructuring of Whitehall will be needed to cope with a further round of cuts, the outgoing head of the civil service has suggested.

In a candid valedictory speech to the Institute for Government on Thursday, Sir Bob Kerslake also warned that another five years of public sector spending cuts would be likely to prove “even harder” than the previous five because the “easier savings” had already been made.
