School ‘rescue package’ plan branded ineffective and ‘clunky

Conservative plans for an emergency “rescue package” to reinvigorate failing schools have been criticised by experts and political opponents, who say the party has still not solved the problem of how to oversee autonomous academies and free schools.

Tom Gash, director of research at the Institute for Government, called the idea to create a national cohort of teachers “another move to centralise control of education” which still would not address the “fundamental problems of school accountability that still exist”.
