UK Budget: George Osborne faces reality

Ahead of the Budget 2016, Julian McCrae, Deputy Director of the Institute for Government, recalls that when he was in the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit in 2008, “we kept nominal [public] spending the same, but that meant huge increases in real terms”.
