The Institute for Government was delighted to speak to Wendy Williams, who led the review, to discuss what went wrong, what needs to change and what lessons the UK government has learned.
This event was chaired by Joe Owen, Programme Director at the Institute for Government
Wendy Williams is Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary.
She joined HMIC (now HMICFRS) in 2015, and is the Senior Responsible Officer for HMICFRS’s Criminal Justice and Joint Inspection portfolio. This involves working with other criminal justice inspectorates such as HM Inspectorate of Probation, HM Inspectorate of Prisons, Ofsted, the Care Quality Commission and the equivalent Welsh inspectorates across a range of criminal justice issues.
