On 2 May 2024, Oliver Coppard was elected for the second time as mayor of South Yorkshire, winning with 51% of the vote. Coppard heads the voters in South Yorkshire elect their metro mayor, who will lead the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA), which controls a budget of £365m.
